Media Lab > #StayAtHome (2020)
Online media literacy challenge during lockdown - learn, create, win

Media Lab > #StayAtHome was a special edition of the Media Lab program, launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the world slowed down and daily life moved online, we invited young people across the Baltic states to join a week-long online media marathon — a combination of expert-led lectures, creative tasks, and a friendly competition with real prizes.
The program featured three evening sessions with journalists, content creators, and media experts from Latvia and Estonia, who guided participants through key aspects of media literacy, digital safety, and citizen journalism. Each lecture was followed by a practical assignment encouraging young creators to apply new skills and think critically about information in their everyday media environment.
Participants developed media content from home — infographics, social media campaigns, short videos, and articles — while building their understanding of disinformation, propaganda, and the role of independent media. The best entries were selected by a jury and awarded with valuable prizes: a Lenovo laptop, Samsung Galaxy Watch, and JBL headphones.
Media Lab > #StayAtHome offered a creative and constructive way to spend time during quarantine — proving that even in isolation, learning, collaboration, and critical thinking can bring people together.
