CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Civic engagement is empowerment for people to actively shape their societies. Through education, advocacy, and community-building, we work to create inclusive, democratic spaces where everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to participate, be heard, and lead change. We see civic engagement as the foundation for a more just and resilient future. Our initiatives are grounded in ongoing research across the Baltic states and over ten EU countries, focusing on human rights, media literacy, community resilience, and social equality. This research ensures our programs respond to the real needs of the communities we serve.

Participation as a Right and Responsibility

[01]

We believe that democratic culture is not inherited — it is cultivated through action. By fostering political literacy, critical thingking, and community leadership, we encourage individuals and groups to take part in shaping their environments. Engagement is not reserved for institutions — it begins with people who choose to speak, act, and build.

Amplifying Marginalized Voices

[02]

Inclusive civic life means ensuring that those most often left out are not only present but central. Our programs work with at-risk and underrepresented communities, offering platforms where their perspectives can be heard, understood, and translated into action. Civic engagement must reflect the full spectrum of society — not just its loudest parts.

Understanding Through Dialogue

[03]

Our civic work begins with listening — through research, community consultations, and honest conversations with people from diverse backgrounds. These voices shape our perspective and help us design actions that are rooted in real needs and lived experience.

Capacity Lab

A program focused on strengthening democratic participation, human rights advocacy, and community resilience. Participants engage in political literacy lectures, leadership development, and civic capacity-building activities that empower them to influence decision-making and advocate for inclusive societies. Through ongoing research across the Baltic States and over 10 EU countries, the program addresses real community needs — from combating stereotypes to promoting social equality. Launched to support marginalised voices and foster cross-sector collaboration, Capacity Lab equips individuals and organisations with the tools to lead change and contribute to a more just and democratic region.
