The Stage at New East: A Home for Independent Voices
Hosting performances, tours, and artistic experiments

At New East, the stage is more than just a space — it’s an open platform for experimentation, resistance, and creative expression. We are proud that our venue has become a trusted home for independent theatre groups, emerging artists, and non-state cultural productions.
Over the years, the stage has welcomed dozens of performances and projects that challenge, provoke, and connect. Regular guests include the Latvian Theatre of Protest Culture, whose powerful stagings bring urgent social topics to light. Notable productions hosted on our stage include The Price of Flesh — a striking exploration of vulnerability and choice; Baptized — a reflection on faith and identity in post-Soviet contexts; and The Spring — a poetic meditation on memory, migration, and resilience.
In addition to full-scale performances, the space also hosts intimate performative actions, rehearsals, and video recordings for art-based storytelling projects. From political satire to physical theatre, from queer monologues to experimental film sets — the New East stage offers a rare platform where independent cultural work can unfold freely.
