Kvartirnik and Music Labs

Since 2017, New East has been cultivating Kvartirnik—an intimate, grassroots cultural format that blends live music, spoken word, and performative arts into a shared communal experience. Rooted in Latgale’s independent spirit, Kvartirnik invites young musicians, poets, and performers from Daugavpils and surrounding regions to share their voices in a warm, informal atmosphere.

These gatherings are more than concerts—they are cultural rituals of togetherness. Each edition is shaped by a new theme, inviting both participants and audiences to reflect, co-create, and build a shared emotional space. Whether in basements, backyards, or community halls, Kvartirnik brings people together across generations, languages, and backgrounds.

The format encourages spontaneity and experimentation, blurring the line between stage and audience. With support from local communities, volunteers, and grassroots sponsors, artists receive not only applause but also tangible recognition and lasting encouragement from their peers and neighbors.
