On October 5, 2024, from 13:30 to 15:00, Daugavpils will host a unique Forum Theatre event, inviting middle-aged citizens to engage in a powerful, interactive session aimed at exploring and combating propaganda and disinformation in our society. The event will be held in Russian and moderated by Eduards Belnikovs, alongside other experienced mentors who will guide participants through this transformative experience.
What is Forum Theatre?
Forum Theatre is an innovative and participatory approach to theatre, where the audience plays an active role in shaping the performance. Originally developed by Brazilian theatre practitioner Augusto Boal, this method involves presenting a short scene depicting a social issue or conflict. Audience members are then invited to step in and suggest or act out alternative solutions, creating a dynamic discussion through performance. It empowers participants to explore real-life challenges, share experiences, and seek empathetic, collaborative solutions.
